16 Dec Christmas activities in Milan
December, with Christmas and the magic atmosphere that brings with it, is a month rich of events you can’t miss. Among coloured lights, Christmas trees and local markets, let’s find out together some of the events that will make this month... warmer!
The musical Advent calendar
Every day, from December 1st to December 24th, Piazza Duomo will turn into a magical orchestra room: faced out of the windows of Palazzo del Comune, some musicians will sing Christmas melodies for pedestrians. It is a real human Advent calendar, offered by the National Austrian Authority for Tourism and inspired by the Austrian tradition.
Every day a musician will join the musicians who played during the days before, in order to create an orchestra of 24 people on Christmas Eve, when a final melody will be played, waiting for the Christmas Day together.
Darsena Christmas Village
Even the Darsena will transform for festivities: it is all ready for the return of the Darsena Christmas Village, that will be entertaining adults and children from December 7th to January 8th. The Christmas tree will be the symbol of the village: with its enlightenment, the spectacular decorations and its 12 meters of height, will create a magic atmosphere. Moreover, children will be able to give Santa Claus their Christmas letter and take a photo with him in his magic house. You cannot miss a ride on the sleigh driven by the elves, discovering the Village by sailing on the Darsena. The classic local markets will be surrounding the event: walking around the wooden little houses, the local artisans will propose you their creations.
Gae Aulenti on ice
It is not December without ice skating! Until February 12nd, in Gae Aulenti square, between the Unicredit tower and the Bosco Verticale, you can find the ice-skating rink, where adults and children will have the opportunity to practice this “Christmas sport”, while admiring the most beautiful and famous skyscrapers of Milan.
